The cars of tomorrow are almost here, by the looks and reactions to the car in traffic makes it kind of a mixed message. Drivers say it handled well alone but got loose while in traffic during testing at Atlanta. I guess the idea of NASCAR making a wider and taller car for safety purposes is a good idea. For the manufacturers it seems like they are getting ripped off. After all it is " stock " car racing. I think the only thing that is left stock is the number of lugs and lug nuts that hold the wheel on. Which by the way are FIVE. This sport is NOT like Indy cars! LOL. Any way the new cars are four inches wider and two inches taller. Using a splitter under the front bumper it creates more down force, with the look of a Craftsman Truck nose and the basic same protruding rear bumper it slows the cars down. Designed to get more air on the rear of the car making the car more stable in the turns. Now at Daytona, the car has a modified rear wing instead of a spoiler. Leading tests show it could quite possibly get rid of aero-problems. Rear wing makes the car a little more race friendly and leaves more to the driver also. It will be interesting to see what happens in the rest of testing. Bob Dylan said " These Times Are A Changin", so are the cars and the sport of NASCAR.

Are these the cars that are also supposed to have the front bumper lined up with the rear bumper, so that drivers can't stick their nose under other cars anymore?
I'm all for driver safety, but the cars look weird. Especially that front nose....
I'm sending her to talk to you... she's really cool!
I'm Denise...I made the template for Babs' NASCAR blog. What were you looking for exactly?

There hasn't been a stock car for several decades now. NASCAR is really spec car racing. The amazing thing is that Toyota, GM, Ford and Mercedes put so much money into the series. When none of the cars are identifiable what's the point?
