Sub Contracting

Well here goes this years round of bullshit!!! Is it right for the teams to park their "chosen" driver and hire someone else to drive their car just to get it back up into the top 35 in points??? To me the top 35 rule sucks total exhaust pipe. Let the fastest 43 run what they brung.

Back to my point, these owners are getting just as creative with their points as are the crew chiefs at bending the rules. Lets take team A's points and give them to team C because they are sucking and the owner needs them to be a top 35 team. This happened at Penske with Hornish and "The Big Earred Dummy"(points to new team to guarantee new team starts at least 5 races) and now it appears that Petty wants to follow in the same footsteps. I guess this is to keep the 45 in the races and Kyle in the car. There again I throw out the BULLSHIT flag. I love the Petty's and Kyle too for that matter, but the transferring of points is a crock of crap. To my understanding that is a last ditch effort for the Petty's to do that. That is IF they could clear it with Bobby's sponsors, actually don't see it happening.

What I do see happening is another all too common practise now. Subcontracting the driving jobs to past Cup champions. Why not, they have 6 provisionals to use??? Even if they should STILL be in retirement. I mean no offense to ANY of the "elder Champs", but if they were still good enough and competitive in the equipment why are they retired??? I can't remember any driver besides Ned Jarrett that retired at the top of his game, they ALL retired running laps down and "trying" to keep up with ALL the new talent out there. I am NOT saying that cause you retire you are unable to race, but drivers retire for numerous reasons, biggest common denomiator is that they ARE NOT as competitive as they once were. When was the last time Bill Elliot finish in the top ten??? Exactly!!!

And do you know what those team owners will tell you? It's a business. (I don't like it either.)
The reason a lot of the older drivers don't win or finish up front is because as people age they get more cautious and take less risks. They just don't realize it, and their ego takes over and makes them think they are still the great driver they were in their 20's and 30's.
