NASCAR News Reports:
Hendrick Motorsports officials announced Wednesday that Jimmie Johnson will compete in three NASCAR Nationwide Series races in 2008, driving the No. 5 Chevrolet fielded by JR Motorsports.
Johnson will drive in the Nationwide races at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on May 24 and Oct. 10 and at California Speedway on Aug. 30 in the entry that resulted after JR Motorsports and Hendrick merged their Nationwide (formerly Busch) operations. The No. 5 Chevrolet will be sponsored by Lowe’s, which backs Johnson’s No. 48 Sprint Cup team.

My what has this world come to??? An Hendrick driver working for an Earnhardt while the Earnhardt is employed by Hendrick with above mentioned being a "teammate" while owning a car that is normally sponsored by above said driver's very own sponsor. Confused yet??? To think the season hasn't even started and things are complicated.
Name changes in two of the three (loves it) series next year and the truck series the following year. Of course the Avenger by Dodge and how it will be a Charger next year...WTF??? Since Dodge has been back in full Cup competition they have changed nameplates I think about, well shit lets count them. First the Intrepid, then the Charger, then the Avenger (which in it self is a fucking joke, what 16 or 17 races LOL LOL LOL), and then back to the Charger. Oh Lee Iacocca where the shizell are you my nizzle???

Rick Hendrick talked about the #5 being run under the JR Motorsports banner at one of Junior's announcements. He said at that time that it would make Kelley his boss in a way. Hendrick and Junior combined their efforts wherein Rick would own the #5 and Junior would own the #88 and they would both be housed at JRM. Were you asleep that day? Just kidding.
It all makes perfect sense to me, as Hendrick no longer fields any of those former Busch cars over at his shop.
JRM will be the first Nationwide/Busch series team to successfully compete against the so-called Insurance Adjusters from Cup since 2005, IMO. They have a lot going for them.
Who's on first? I hear you, I'm already confused...so JRM will field the #5 and #88? I just posted a foto of the new #88 JRM vroom....solid white and groovy!
From what I understand, Vroom, and what cheyenne said, the #5 NNS car is officially a Hendrick Motorports car, but will be built and maintained by JRM. That is what I understand, which may not necessarily be the truth. Either way, with Hendrick power and good drivers, I see JRM at the Cup level by 2010
