Jeff Gordon, who will run a “Heat Waves and Flames” DuPont Hot Hues™ custom-colored paint scheme designed by Chip Foose during Brickyard 400 can tie seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Dale Earnhardt for career victories if he notches No. 76 this Sunday.
"Tying Dale would be a huge honor, although I’m sure he’d have a lot more than 76 if he were still with us today,” Gordon said.
“To me, Dale is the all time great, certainly of those I’ve had the chance to race against. “The thing that I admired so much about him is the fact that he won over so many different years with cars changing, the sport changing and different drivers coming in and out of the sport. With all those changes, he always found a way to get to Victory Lane and battle for championships. I think when you look at the span of time that he was able to do that, that's very impressive.
“And to be just one away from something he’s done is an accomplishment."
That is a quote almost word for word out of That's Racin.com. Reason being is I am about to make a point WITHOUT slammin Gordo. That quote above shows hiow much Jeff has learned from Ironhead and how much needed respect he had for him on the race track. I can remember more than at least twenty good finishes between the two. Some Dale on the giving and some with Dale on the receiving. One comes to mind was a Talladega race where Gordon pulled a slip and slide on Dale to win the race. Sr. was quoted as saying in the ONLY interview granted with him after the race,"I taught the boy tooo damn much"!!! Then in classic Earnhardt fashion walked away, while boy wonder celebrated. Todays drivers have no idea of how things used to be. When you paid your dues buy racing shizzit cars until you worked your way into a real ride. While winning along the way. NASCAR now is all about the big bucks. Endorsements, huge winners purses, and who is marketable. Too bad the "newer" fans don't remember what I am babbling about. To me they are more than memories, they are the way NASCAR should be and be returned to.

yeah pepsi is one of jg sponsors so he deserved the appropriate can top. i hope he hits the wall and goes in front of 48. it sure was nice not to see or hear any gordon crap last weekend.
I knew that about Gordon and Earnhardt. I don't think Jeffy has shown the ability to adapt that Ironhead had. Remember, Gordon went from "Loose is fast," to "I can't drive loose."

Jeff Gordon who?
A lot of times I will do the photo thing when blogger is working and save them into draft. Then I can add the script later on. There is nothing more frustrating trying to get those things into your blog. And I have had a lot of problems lately. Very few of my posts are spur-of-the-moment and if they are, there's no picture. I love posting pictures with every post I write and swear like a sailor when I can't get them to work.
