When I hear the word retire I think of putting on a set of truck tires, not kicking back in the glory years playing with the dogs and grandchildren(shuddered when I thought of that, not the grand-kids the fact I'm getting old enough to have 'em). Mark Martin however has "other" thoughts. He is now thinking of running a "limited" schedule next year with the "right" team. Man oh man what I would love to see is Mark hang out and drive that 6 car until his son Matt is ready for the transition into Cup. The only thing stopping Matt is age. NASCAR has mandated a min. age of 18 for the "upper" class in NASCAR. Remember when they parked "Shrubs" til he was 18??? With the evolution of NASCAR from what it was and how it is, to me that could be the greatest homage of respect to tradition shown in modern day NASCAR. Passing the torch from father to son would be a instrumental movement in NASCAR. I think it could be the final chapter of the "elder" NASCAR and the first chapter of the "modern day" NASCAR as some of us "old time" fans remember it. Maybe if Mark, Matt and Jack pulled that off, it could still link the past to the present. Keeping the memories somewhat alive for this "older" Dawg.

yeah it's getting time for the ol' champ to hang it up. thanx for stopping by. remember paybacks are a bitch. jeffy poo better be looking in his rearview mirror. that little track isn't that big.
I heard that teleconference of Mark's and he sounded like he didn't know what was going on next year or he's just keeping us on our toes.
I might be running cup, I'm not retired. I might be at Roush, I'm waiting for the right package to be put together.
It would be great to see the torch passed on to the young 'en.
I just wish he'd poop or get off the pot already. Yes or no, that's all we want to hear. Either way it doesn't matter to me, he's just another field filler. oops, did I say that?
