When the topic of what to do with the number three(yep, you know it) made famous by Ironhead came up I stated my opinion. I had said maybe a different generation of either Earnhardt or Childress should have it. Thats Racin.com had a very good article about Richard's grandchildren Austin and Ty Dillon. Sons of daughter Tina, Richard and Judy's only child. Married to Mike Dillon, retired from competition Busch Series regular in the nineties. Now he serves as director of Cup teams at RCR. Grandpa Richard said if you ever want to go racin......!!! Sixteen year old Austin already is set up in a familiar paint scheme on his Legends car, you know black with a very familiar looking number three(there it is!!!). Ty drives a Bandalero car almost identical except his number is two. Richard sees Ty going more towards racing as a job while Austin wants to race, but has education on the brain first. That would do my heart good to see that happen to that number. After all even Richard himself drove a black number three(luvs that number). Back where it belongs with a Childress driving it. Don't hate me Ironhead fans, to go back home where it belongs and to start a new generation of Childress is what Sr. would want. To give back to the man that helped give him EVERYTHING!!! Cause that is the Earnhardt way.
