ROY candidate Denny Hamlin, JGR pilot of the number 11 Fed-Ex Chevy is sitting sixteenth in points. Second highest rookie in points. I gotta say this kid sure as hell can drive. Ten races in and Denny has two top five finishes and three(there it is again) more top tens. He started the year off right by winning the Bud Shootout and just last week a runner-up finish behind no other Dale Junior. Almost quoted(can't totally remember all of it), I could have wrecked Junior but I was worried about what would happen to me if I had said jokingly. The twenty-five year old sure is proving that having ol Smoke for a team mate and the Gibbs family as employers makes a difference. The show of respect to other drivers and the way he approaches his abilities to race shows maturity beyond his years. I have a feeling the class of 2006 is going to be a bizzitch to call a clear cut winner. Tomarrow we will stay at JGR and take a look at the "other" rookie.

I think he seems like a nice kid, and I hope he can win a race in his rookie season...he sort of seems destined to at this point! Second at Richmond to Dale Jr.? In sight of the win, but not willing to dump the racecar of his buddy to do so? That's a nice guy, and a hell of a driver.
I think it's funny that I refer to him as a "kid" and he's exactly two days older than me. :)
Hamlin is doing awesome. Think we'll have to watch out for him. Driving like that with what was it, 19 stiches in is hand? Two nights in a row? He's determined, that's for sure!
I like when he said he pretending all the people cheering for Jr. were cheering for him! And J. J. Yeley making fun of him with his zipper incident was funny.
I love that first picture.
