Congrats to Jason Leffler for the number one starting spot in Fri. nights Busch Series race and kudos to Greg "Da Biff" Biffle on his start for Saturday nights race. Ahhhhhhhh under the lights, damn I loves it. Good effort for THE NEWLY SIGNED, SEALED, AND DELIVERED KEVIN "HAPPY" HARVICK. Nice job Budweiser Brew Crew, stick with Kevin go to the front and last lap it out. Mark Martin, shit what can we say? It always seems as though he is always a brides maid and never a bride. Starting second is always a good thing, but as many times as Mark has finished second in points in Cup racing I'm wondering if he will ever be the bride.
Batesville Arkansas's Mark Martin started his career in the old ASA series in 1977. He won the circuit's Rookie of the Year title in 1977 and then 3 consecutive championships from 1978 to 1980. Martin began his Winston/Nextel Cup career in 1981. After flippin around between different sponsors and teams from 1981 to 1983, he returned to ASA in 1984. In his first full year in Cup during this period, he ran his own team and even had 5 top 10s, but ran out of payola. In 1986, he won another ASA championship. In 1987, he gave NASCAR racing another shot by running in the Busch Series. Good thing he did! After winning in Dover , "The Cat in the Hat" saw Mark's talent and the rest basically is history. Since starting his Cup career Mr. Martin has finished second in the points four times. Now that is a bitch! Hey still 35 wins, 364 top tens, 42 pole awards ain't nothin to sneeze at and five IROC titles accompanied with 13 wins is still a record today and who knows what else the old man has left up his sleeve. I would do a Carl Edwards back flip to see him win this years Chase with Jimmie Johnson runner-up. After-all "one of the media guys" coined JJ to be the next "Mark Martin- Bridesmaid".
